Hemingfords Action Group Hemingford Cambridge

MICK GEORGE - DON'T DUMP ON YOUR NEIGHBOURS

Support our campaign to defend our rural communities and ensure waste is processed in appropriate and already identified locations.

The Hemingfords Action Group has been extremely active in the last two years and our key achievements have been to:

  • Raised £35,000 for high quality legal advice and fees
  • Recruited support from key bodies within the villages and surrounding areas
  • Created a network of Ambassadors, whose job is to be an information and support link between the communities and the committee
  • Maintained a constant presence within the communities through hard-hitting banners and posted.  Click: link to banners and posters
  • Kept the community updated, with regular newsletters and public meetings.  Click: link to newsletters
  • Sent a monthly briefing paper to the Parish Council
  • Maintained constant vigilance so that, once Mick George Limited submits a formal planning application, we will be ready rapidly to mobilise the raising of further funds and formidable legal support. We will fight this unwelcome Hemingford waste site with one of the most memorable environmental protests in Cambridge.

Imagine a typical day in your life, with Mick George Ltd
as your noisy neighbour!

Close your eyes - just imagine the impact of the noise, traffic dirt, light pollution and spray.  Think about the delays of getting past the slip road to Huntingdon Station, getting the children to school, or trying to reach the new A14 Junction; Imagine the roads out of the village being blocked.

Our award-winning villages, with their conservation status and 81 listed buildings, is under threat; and it’s a threat for all seasons:  consider winter’s dark and icy mornings, and huge vehicles to contend with. Think summer: sitting in your garden, or local walks ruined by noise, smells and dust. With an MGL waste handling plant on our doorstep there won’t be days like these ones.

We need your support to make Mick George Limited and Cambridgeshire County Council stop their plans to build a massive waste handling site on the golf course next to our villages.
